Reading at Home
Your child will bring home a Book Buddy bag with familiar books to read to you every night. Have your child read these books to you a few times, sharing the enjoyment of reading.
Also included in your child's Book Buddy bag you will find a glue stick, a writing journal, and an envelope with a cut-up sentence. Your child should reassemble the cut-up sentence in the writing journal (I’ve written it on the front of the envelope so that you will know what it should say) and glue it on the right page in the writing journal.
Also on the envelope, I will write a word with three lines under it:
look
______
______
______
Your child should practice writing this word three times on the left page in the writing journal, saying the word slowly each time as he/she writes it.
Keep the glue stick and the writing journal in the Book Buddy bag along with the books and return it to school every day.
